The Grambling State University football team had two student-athletes earn Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) honors this week. Senior linebacker Lewis Matthews was named SWAC Defensive Player of the Week and freshman wide receiver Tylon Williams landed SWAC Newcomer of the Week honors.
Matthews was all over the field in GSU’s 58-22 victory over Florida Memorial, making 11 total tackles and returning an interception for a touchdown.
Williams earned newcomer of the week after making three receptions for 102 yards, including a 67-yard TD reception on Saturday.
