Bart Barfield went to be with his Lord and Savior on October 1, 2023, after a courageous five-year battle with lung cancer. He was born in Hico, Louisiana, on September 3, 1941. After high school, he worked 40 years at Ludlow Corporation in Homer, Louisiana. During his retirement he enjoyed catfishing with nephew, Phillip Billberry. He also loved to go squirrel hunting, and to his family, he was an amazing gardener. Bart was a faithful member of Grace Baptist Church in Ruston, Louisiana.
Bart is preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Honrie Barfield; brother, Ray Barfield; brother, Wayne and his wife Pricilla Barfield; niece, Sherri Barfield Ferrel.
He is survived by his dear wife of 60 years, Sallie Owen Barfield; his three loving children, Kammie Barfield; Russell and his wife Sue Barfield; Wanda and her husband Daryl Sullivan; grandchildren, Garrett and Caroline Barfield; Brook Ovitt; great-grandson, Weston Meeks; sister, Jean Clement; and sister-in-law, Ruth Barfield.
A grave-side service will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at 2 pm at Henry Cemetery in Dubach, Louisiana. The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. Mark Blackwelder and his nurse, Kim and Dr. David Osafo. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Henry Cemetery c/o Randi Deason 409 Highway 152, Dubach, LA, 71235.
