Bulldogs, Tigers tangle on pitch tonight

Louisiana Tech is back home to take on cross-town opponent Grambling State tonight at 7 p.m. at Robert Mack Caruthers Field.

Louisiana Tech (3-7-3) travels back home for a cross-town matchup against the Grambling State Tigers on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m. at the Robert Mack Caruthers Field. The Bulldogs are coming off a loss to Sam Houston State Bearkats, which they lost 2-1 on Sunday, Oct. 1 in Huntsville, Texas.

Louisiana Tech have outshot their opponents 31-21 in the last three matches. Also, the Bulldogs have allowed sixteen corner kicks in their last three matches, while only taking eleven corner kicks.

Freshman Kyra Taylor scored her sixth goal of the year in the 86th minute against Sam Houston State. She is currently second on the team in goal with six only behind Lauren Egbuloniu with seven. Kyra currently second in points on the team with sixteen, behind Lauren who has eighteen. 

The Grambling Tigers (6-4-2) are currently on a four-game winning streak. The Tiger’s last win came against Alabama A&M on Sunday, Oct. 1, which Grambling won 4-0. Grambling last loss came from the University of Louisiana Monroe, which the Tigers lost 1-0 at home.

Louisiana Tech leads the series between Grambling State 8-3-1. The Bulldog’s last matchup against the Tigers resulted in a tie 0-0 at Grambling in 2019. Grambling has not outright won a match against Louisiana Tech in fifteen years. The Tiger’s last win came in 2008, when they beat the Bulldogs 3-2 in extra time in Grambling.
