The Lincoln Parish School Board held its monthly meeting Tuesday at Dubach Elementary School at 12 p.m. as opposed to the normal office to vote on key items and to honor three Ruston High Students who were named National Merit semifinalists.
The board members voted unanimously in favor on supplemental checks for November, the upgrading of a number of school buses to outfit air conditioning, and to accept the bid from Lincoln Builders for the Simsboro School District No. 3 Bond construction.
Absent in voting was Otha Anders.
The November supplemental checks will come out to $3700 for certified salaried staff and $1850 for support salaried staff.
The school board will also be able to move forward with retrofitting approximately 35 school buses with air conditioning with the option to purchase more buses as Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief funding allows.
Prior to voting, Thomas Rogers, Jodi Dunbar, and Chaz Backhaus of Ruston High were all honored for their accomplishment in being named 2024 National Merit semifinalists.
The school board was hosted by Dubach Elementary in an effort to promote visibility for schools within the parish. An informal recommendation was made during the meeting to hold some future meetings at other schools, as well.
“I’d like to thank everyone who came to this lovely school supporting us all the way from central office to parents to interested people in the school board,” Donna Doss, LPSB District 4 board member said. “This was an opportunity for me to show off my home; my house. I suggest that when we make the schedule for board meetings that we go to every school.”
