
A Ruston man was arrested early Saturday morning after he resisted officers Investigating a loud noise complaint on Lewis Street.
Kendrick Harris, 31, was asked for his name several times by an officer investigating the disturbance. Harris provided the name Ja’Malean Harris, but no record could be found of that name, and it was apparent to officers that it was false.
When told he was under arrest, the man attempted to flee, and a struggle ensued to bring him under control. While the suspect was on the ground, he was able to roll over and kick one of the officers with full force.
After officers took him into custody, it was determined his correct name was Kendrick Harris. A check through local databases showed Harris was wanted on several warrants by Ruston Police and the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office.
He was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for three counts of resisting an officer, battery of a police officer, resisting by flight, and warrants from the Sheriff’s Office for possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting an officer by flight, failure to secure vehicle registration, no proof of insurance, no driver’s license, possession of a Schedule I controlled substance with intent to distribute, and possession of marijuana. He was also booked on three Ruston Police warrants for driving under suspension, two counts of no driver’s license, and improper noise.
Bail was set at $81,500.
