Louisiana Tech pitching coach Cooper Fouts has been named one of the top 100 collegiate baseball coaches in the country by DI Baseball.
Fouts is entering his third year on head coach Lane Burroughs staff.
“Cooper is one of the most energetic and positive coaches I’ve ever been around,” said Burroughs. “He is relationship driven and has a burning desire to be better and make our program better every day. He has done a tremendous job with our pitchers and catchers and his relentless efforts on the recruiting side is second to none. We are fortunate to have Coop at Tech and he deserves any recognition he receives. He’s one of the young, hungry lions in our profession.”
Fouts joined the Bulldogs in the summer of 2021 and helped guide Louisiana Tech to the 2022 Conference USA Tournament title and an appearance in the Austin Regional.
During the 2022 season, Tech pitchers recorded a program record 606 strikeouts and ranked ninth nationally in strikeout-to-walk ratio. Following the 2022 season, Cade Gibson, Ryan Jennings, Kyle Crigger and Jarret Whorff were all drafted or signed free agent contracts with Major League Baseball teams.
Fouts worked closely with Bulldog pitchers Ryan Harland (2022) and Ethan Bates (2023) who both earned All-American honors over the past two seasons.
Prior to coming to Ruston, Fouts served as an assistant coach at Purdue (2019-21), Pepperdine (2016-18), Utah Valley (2013-15), Pepperdine (2011-12), College of Southern Nevada (2007-10) and Lubbock Christian (2006).
