Woman spotted attempting bike theft

A Ruston woman was arrested early Friday morning after a Louisiana Tech student worker saw her attempting to steal a bicycle on campus.

The student allegedly saw Iresha M. Percy, 32, trying to cut a cable lock off a bicycle in the rack in front of Graham Hall just after midnight Friday morning. A Tech police officer responded and saw Percy crouched behind the bicycle rack.

When Percy walked away, she was arrested and admitted she was attempting to cut off the lock with a pair of hedge clippers.

A records check showed Percy was wanted by Tech Police on a warrant in a previous theft case. She was booked for attempted theft, simple criminal damage to property, and the warrant.

Bail was set at $6,000.
