
Funeral services honoring the life of Laurie Leigh Jones, age 50 of Simsboro, LA will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, November 21, 2023 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston, LA with Rev. Randy Dark officiating. Burial will follow in the Unionville Cemetery in Dubach, LA under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston.
Laurie was born on January 24, 1973, in Ruston, LA to Jimmy and Brenda Robinson and passed away peacefully surrounded by her family after a brief battle with colon cancer on Thursday, November 16, 2023.
Laurie was raised in Jonesboro, LA and graduated from Jonesboro-Hodge High School in 1991. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing and Management from East Texas Baptist University in 1996. Laurie was employed as an Administrative Assistant with Pipeline Services at Hunt Guillot & Associates in Ruston, LA. She was a member of McDonald Baptist Church in Jonesboro, LA.
Laurie had the sweetest spirit and was loved by all who knew her. She cared deeply for others and wanted to help anyone who was in need. You could always find her in the kitchen where she loved to cook and bake. She enjoyed working in her garden growing a variety of sunflowers and vegetables. She perfected canning those vegetables and enjoyed sharing them with her friends and loved ones. You could always find her near any body of water that she could fish in with the love of her life Jim. Most of all Laurie enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews.
Laurie was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, George and Melba Whitman, paternal grandparents, Melvin Robinson and Merteal Dugas, and mother-in-law Melba Jones. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 7 years, Jim Jones of Simsboro, LA; parents, Jimmy and Brenda Robinson of Ruston, LA; sister Amanda and husband John Foster of Haughton, LA; nieces: Allyson Foster and Brianna Farrow; nephews: John Landon Foster, Jackson Turner, and Kaiser Lawrence; father-in-law Harry Jones of Simsboro, LA and sister-in-law Olivia Jones of Shreveport, LA. She also leaves behind her dogs Anna Belle and Ziva whom she loved like they were her own children.
Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM, Monday, November 20, 2023 at the funeral home.
