Ruston dropped a pair of games over the weekend at the Wossman Tournament in Monroe, La.; first to Jennings 67-54 on Thursday and then 50-42 to Capital on Friday.
“It was really the same story for both games,” Ruston head coach Ryan Bond said. “We had good stretches, but just not enough consistency. Especially on the defensive end. Both teams scored a ton in the paint.”
Senior Lonnie Dimmer led the Bearcats in scoring against Jennings with 26 points on 9-of-28 shooting and seven rebounds. Freshman KeShun Malcolm added 12 points.
On Saturday, sophomore Mason Delaney with nine points, while Dimmer added eight.
And now, following Ruston’s state championship for football on Saturday, the Bearcat basketball squad will be adding six to the roster for tonights’ game against Arcadia in senior Zhy Scott, juniors Joran Parker, Aidan Anding, Zheric Hill and Fabian Stringfellow and with freshman Ahmad Hudson.
“I’m so proud of them,” Ruston High head coach Ryan Bond said. “They are champions and want to win a ring on the court. They have been tremendous supporting us early in the year.”
