Sheriff Stephen Williams announced Thursday the promotion of Major Landon Hunt to Chief Deputy.
Chief Deputy Hunt has served the citizens of Lincoln Parish as a law enforcement officer for the last 20 years, the past 15 years with the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office.
Throughout his career, Hunt has served in numerous positions including Deputy Sheriff, Patrol Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, Patrol Captain and most recently Major over the Criminal Division (Patrol, Criminal Investigations, Narcotics and Civil/Courthouse Security). In addition to these roles, Hunt has also served on the Lincoln Parish Narcotics Enforcement Team as well as the Special Response Team.
“I am humbled and honored to serve Lincoln Parish as Chief Deputy,” said Hunt. “My commitment to serving our deputies and the citizens we are sworn to protect remains steadfast. I am deeply appreciative of Sheriff Williams’ exceptional leadership and his forward-thinking vision for our office and will work diligently with him to ensure that our parish continues to be a safe and exceptional place to call home.”
As Chief Deputy, Hunt will assist Sheriff Williams in managing all daily operations of the Sheriff’s Office.
At a small ceremony Thursday morning, Third Judicial District Judge Bruce Hampton administered the oath of office while a small group of family, friends and deputies joined in congratulations.
