Up-to-date closures in Lincoln Parish

City of Ruston: Jan. 16

Due to the current roadway conditions and forecasted low temperatures overnight, City of Ruston offices will be closed Tuesday, January 16th and garbage trucks will not run.

Conditions will be further evaluated, and a determination for Wednesday’s garbage route will be made Tuesday afternoon and an update posted.

Lincoln Parish Police Jury: Jan. 16

Lincoln Parish Police Jury Update: All departments, the courthouse, and the landfill will be closed on January 16, 2024 due to inclement weather.

Louisiana Tech University: Jan. 16 – 17

Given the winter storm warning and forecast from the National Weather Service (NWS) for today through Wednesday, the campus will be closed through Wednesday. Classes will resume on Thursday. This includes operations for Barksdale and the Academic Success Center in Bossier City.

Essential staff who need to be on campus for work will be notified by their supervisors. The Payroll Office will provide guidance for essential employees required to work and instructions for recording leave for the weather closure.

The NWS indicates we will experience dangerously cold conditions beginning today through the middle of the week. There is potential for wintry precipitation across the area later today through Monday night. Expect moderate to minor travel impacts from snow, sleet, and freezing rain.

Please stay off the roads unless you must travel and use caution on sidewalks and steps outdoors.

Though the campus is closed, some services will be open for students who remain on campus.

Tech Table will be open from 11 a.m.-8 p.m. today, closed Monday for MLK, and open Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m.

The Lambright Center will be open from noon to 8 p.m. today. Hours for Monday through Wednesday are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. TechCare will be open normal hours.

Grambling State University: Jan. 16 – 17

GRAMBLING, La. – January 14, 2024 – Out of an abundance of caution, campus will remain closed through Wednesday, January 17 amidst forecasted wintry conditions. All classes (online, in person, hybrid) will be canceled during this time. Operations and classes are expected to resume on Thursday, January 18, 2024.

According to the National Weather Service, dangerously cold temperatures are forecasted to start tonight and continue through the middle of next week. This can include impactful wintry precipitation across the area from later tonight through Monday Night. Moderate to minor travel impacts are possible from a combination of snow, sleet, and freezing rain.

Cedar Creek School
Due to the winter weather conditions, Cedar Creek School will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, January 16th and 17th. These days will be virtual learning days and students are to complete assignments as directed by their teachers. STOP to end
