Application period open for division of arts general operating support grant program

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana Division of the Arts has begun accepting applications for the FY25-26 General Operating Support (GOS) grant program. The deadline to apply is Friday, February 9, 2024 at 5 p.m.

“This program seeks to support nonprofit arts organizations making an impact in our state as well as develop arts organizations and build a network of support among organizations of every size and scale throughout the state,” said Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser.


Applicants compete for funding within their tier, which is based on the operating budget of the organization. The four tiers include:

  • Institution Tier – annual operating budget greater than $1 million; max award of $15,000
  • Advancement Tier – annual operating budget of $250,000 – $1 million; max award of $10,000
  • Entry Tier – annual operating budget of $30,000 – $249,000; max award of $5,000
  • Development Tier – must be a first-time applicant with annual operating budget of $50,000 or less; max award of $5,000 

Grant funds support general operating expenses such as administrative salaries and benefits, payroll expenses, insurance, facility space rental, utilities, and contracted and professional services.

Eligibility requirements for organizations include:

  • Nonprofit arts organization having an organizational mission statement which states that a primary goal of the organization is to create, present, or preserve one or more of the recognized disciplines. The arts disciplines include dance, design arts, folklife, literature, media, music, theatre, and visual arts and crafts.
  • Domiciled in Louisiana with a letter from the Internal Revenue Service declaring it exempt from Federal income tax under Section 501(c)3 of the Federal Internal Revenue Code, dated at least two years before the application deadline.
