Cedar Creek coach Katie Hall wants to challenge her club.
Hall said the Lady Cougars will now play host to 5A West Monroe on Monday, February 5 at 5 p.m. at The Brickhouse.
“The approached us about the game,” said Hall. “We actually tried to schedule a game with them before the season started, but we couldn’t find a common date that would work for both of us. I thought it would be good for our girls to have some more tough competition towards the end of district. And we have them here at our place. “
West Monroe is a member of District 2-5A and currently sits at 10-9 on the season. The Rebels have split their first two district games, defeating West Ouachita (39-38) and losing to Ouachita (58-39). West Monroe has a 41-26 win over Ouachita Christian this season.
“I asked our players and I like how they responded and said, ‘Yes, let’s do it,’ said Hall. “It will make us better. It’s the mindset that I want us to have because we know we will play tougher competition the deeper we get into postseason play.”
Cedar Creek is currently 11-9 and ranked No. 11 in the Select School Division IV power ratings. Creek will travel to Summerfield on Thursday.
