A new Miss Tech has been crowned.
Miss Louisiana Tech 2023 Chanley Patterson passed the title on to Kaylyn Murphy, a senior architecture major, who received the coveted crown as Miss Louisiana Tech 2024 after Tuesday’s pageant held at Howard Auditorium.
Murphy, whose platform is suicide awareness, competed against 12 other Tech students to win the coveted title. She will compete in the Miss Louisiana pageant this June in Monroe.
As Miss Louisiana Tech, Murphy receives a tuition scholarship, private room and meals for three quarters from the university, and a $2,000 wardrobe budget given by the Union Board.
First runner up and the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship given by the Alumni Association and the University Foundation is Hannah Brotherton, a junior computer information systems major. Brotherton also received Miss Congeniality, which is selected by the delegates and includes a $150 scholarship given by the Union Board.
Second runner up and recipient of a $750 scholarship courtesy of the university is Grace Jones, a sophomore nursing major.
Third runner up and recipient of a $700 scholarship given by the Student Government Association is De’Ahmya Whaley, a sophomore secondary education major. Whaley also received the People’s Choice Award, voted on by the audience and includes a $150 scholarship given by the Union Board.
Fourth runner up and recipient of a $500 scholarship given by the Louisiana Tech Union Board is Emily Travis, a senior interdisciplinary studies major.
