JENNINGS — Choudrant’s Lady Aggies attained their top three goals under first-year head coach Brandy Roberson.

Those goals were to win more games than last year, to win district and to earn a spot in the Division V Girls Nonselect School basketball playoffs.

But the Lady Aggies fell short in their quest for their fourth goal Thursday night as 26th-seeded Choudrant fell at No. 7 seed Hathway by the score of 78-24.

Choudrant, which ended its season at 14-21, kept things tight in the opening stanza, holding the Lady Hornets to a 9-7 advantage heading into the second quarter.

But that’s when the Lady Hornets started buzzing the nets, outscoring Choudrant 24-7 to go into the locker room at halftime holding a 33-13 lead.

Hathaway never looked back from there, outscoring the Lady Aggies 25-10 in the second half to advance to a second-round contest against 10th-seeded Hornbeck, which defeated Evans 44-35 Thursday night.

Reese Brown led Choudrant with six points while Abby Frazier totaled five.

Sadie Jones and Briley McGuire chipped in with four points each for the Lady Aggies, who also received three points from Brelyn Pyle.
