Following postseason appearances, both Lincoln Prep and Cedar Creek saw a number of athletes earn all-District 2-1A honors.

Lincoln Prep senior Asijah Wright joined Cedar Creek senior Leah Sutherland and junior Mallory Smith on the six-person first team. Creek sophomore Caroline James and freshman Mary Grace Hawkins and Lincoln Prep senior Shedreana Green and eighth grader Jayleen Spann were all part of the districts second team.

Lady Cougar senior Olivia Underwood and junior Zoey Venters and Lincoln Prep’s Synniah Spann were all named honorable mention.

Wright, Spann, Sutherland and Smith were all part of the all-Lincoln Parish Journal postseason team released Tuesday.

The Lady Panthers earned their honors after a season that saw Lincoln Prep post a 10-19 mark, a 7-game win improvement from a year ago. Head coach Fred Hearn and Co. finished third in District 2-1A but dropped competitive games against co-district champions OCS and Cedar Creek in all four meetings. The Lady Panthers recorded a 60-32 upset win over Catholic Pointe Coupee in their first round playoff match-up before falling to No. 4 seed Sacred Heart.

The Lady Cougars were 18-12 this season, including a 5-1 mark in District 2-1A action. Creek fell to OCS in the power point tiebreaker game but then advanced to the Select School District IV quarterfinals with wins over Slaughter Community Charter and St. Martin’s Episcopal. Head coach Katie Hall’s Lady Cougars fell to No. 1 seed Southern Lab last week.
