Disorderly man arrested at Ruston convenience store

A Ruston man was arrested last Thursday evening for public intoxication and threatening a police officer at a local convenience store.

A Ruston Police patrol supervisor saw several individuals loitering in the parking lot of a convenience store on South Farmerville Street where “no loitering” signs had been posted. When the officer stopped to disperse the crowd, he saw a man exit the store with an open alcoholic beverage. The officer found the man appeared to be intoxicated. When asked for his identification, the man said he had none and refused to provide a name.

Charles E. Spencer, Jr., 47, was arrested. During the transport to the detention center, Spencer allegedly told the officer, “I hate white cops. When I get out, I’m going to kill you.”

Spencer was booked for open container, resisting an officer by refusing to identify himself, disturbing the peace by appearing intoxicated in public, and public intimidation.
