Funeral services for Gary Wayne “G.W.” Thornhill will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, April 19, 2024 at Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA with Rev. Brad Jones officiating. Burial will follow in the Roselawn Cemetery under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.
Gary Wayne went to join our Lord and Savior on April 16, 2024. He was born July 22, 1952 in Shreveport, La to parents James Odell and Helen Thornhill. He retired from Baker Hughes in 2011 after spending 41 years in the oil field industry.
Gary Wayne enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He loved being outdoors, riding his tractor with his dogs following, listening to his music and sharing laughter. Gary Wayne was a friend to many and cherished each one. His kindness, welcoming smile and contagious laugh will be missed by all. Gary Wayne is reunited in Heaven with his parents: Odell and Helen Thornhill; and brother, Ronald Thornhill.
Gary Wayne is survived by his wife of 51 years, Cheryl Talley Thornhill; daughters: Brandi Martin and husband Matt and Brooke Stevenson and husband Jobec; grandchildren: Natalie Martin, Nicholas Griffin, Analise Stevenson and Brady Martin; and sister, Jeanette Thornhill Thornton.
Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Bump, Dee Thornhill, Greg Thornhill, Rodney Thornhill, Michael Bennett, Kade Ougel.
Visitation will be held from 12:00-2:00 PM, Friday, April 19, 2024 at Owens Memorial Chapel in Ruston, LA.
To know Gary Wayne was to love him, and his memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
