A man just released from a Mississippi prison was arrested in Ruston in a stolen truck last Wednesday.
A woman contacted the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office Wednesday morning to report Shannon Christopher Beckham, 43, had been released from prison in Mississippi and showed up unexpectedly at her home and also her daughter’s. The woman was concerned because she believed Beckham had mental health or drug abuse issues.
The woman also said she believed the pickup truck Beckham was driving was stolen because of his recent prison release with no money. Beckham told a family member he was going to “east end.”
A deputy spotted the suspect vehicle occupied by Beckham at a convenience store on South Farmerville Street. Beckham displayed indications of narcotics use and was detained. A check of the truck’s license plate and vehicle identification number showed the plate was switched from another vehicle and the pickup had been stolen in Mississippi.
Beckham was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for possession of stolen things and switched license plate.
