Ruston residents can once again look forward to a dazzling night sky at Temple Baptist Church’s LoveLincoln Freedom Fest Wednesday, July 3. The 27th annual celebration will feature a patriotic program with songs celebrating the nation’s birth, honoring servicemen and women and recognizing the true freedom given by God through Christ.

The evening will conclude with a spectacular firework show, free to attend.

Senior pastor at Temple Baptist Church, Reggie Bridges recognized the immense devotion that goes into preparing for the event and explained why it is so important to acknowledge the celebration of freedom in our country.

“It has always been our hope that it would be a community event where we could come together to express gratitude and encourage Christ-centered citizenship. That is why so many of our men and women invest tremendous energy in preparing to sing, play and lead in the event,” Bridges said. “For us, such a reflection seems not only appropriate, but necessary. Indeed, it provides a context for us to thank God for His gift of freedom. As Americans, we are baptized into it. Whether in our daily practices or in our weekly worship, we experience incredible, unparalleled liberty.”

Each year, many community members eagerly gather to celebrate freedom, enjoy quality time with friends and family and marvel at the spectacular fireworks show.

Ruston resident Kimerly Bauerie praised the beauty of the annual fireworks display in her town.

“I come from Texas, where ‘all things are bigger in Texas.’ Wrong. The Temple Fireworks are the best firework display I have ever seen,” Bauerie said. “My kids thoroughly enjoy it as well.”

The LoveLincoln Freedom Fest kicks off at 7:30 p.m., with doors opening at 7 p.m.

The program will feature a Procession of Patriots to honor men and women who sacrificed for the country. It will include the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance, performances of the Star Spangled Banner and various other patriotic songs. The program will be followed by a Firework Show presented by Pyromania Fireworks immediately following the program.

Bridges encouraged community members to come out not only to enjoy the beautiful display, but also to discover the true freedom that we experience through Christ.

“Our LoveLincoln Freedom Fest will be a special moment in the life of Temple Baptist Church, and I believe, Lincoln Parish,” Bridges said. “As the fireworks light up the sky at night, we want people to know that Jesus can light up their lives as well.”
