Nearly 2,000 people ranging from local to out-of-state came to the first annual Celebrate Dubach this weekend, giving Dubach residents the chance to show off some renovations and updates to the quaint town in North Lincoln Parish.

“We had people come from Arkansas and West Texas — not just Louisiana,” Dubach Mayor Mona Wilson said. “The kids enjoyed playing on our new playground. The adults enjoyed our new picnic tables and pavilions we had set up. We had bands play for nearly five hours, and they were all good. And then we had a 30-minute firework show.

“Everybody that I’ve spoken with said it was awesome.”

The event was held to celebrate the opening of the new children’s park, the restored ball park, a concrete boat launch, a new fishing and kayaking dock, the Lewis Pavilion, and a new nature trail.

The day started with a co-ed softball tournament, the first official event hosted in Dubach’s Ball Park in over 30 years, while at the end of the day, the amphitheater on the lake held its first live music events since it was constructed.

Wilson shared her appreciation for all that were involved in helping make the special day happen for the town.

“I really appreciate all the hard work and hours and days of time our workers, new people, and non-residents put in to make this happen,” Wilson said. “This gave people in Dubach the chance to get out and see what we are trying to do for our public and give them opportunities to hold these events. It was really, really good.”
