Letter to the Editor:
As we begin a new year for VFW Post 3615, as its past commander let me express my thanks to this community for the incredible way you have supported our efforts over the past two years.
I can’t imagine any other post in our state enjoying the benefit of a community that not only appreciates its veterans, but also will stand alongside them. That is certainly the way it has felt during my two years of leading Post 3615 and the growth we have experienced is more than we could have hoped for. And we have you to thank for that.
From local, district and state winners in our youth scholarship and public servant competitions, to those who rally around our flag program and subsequent retirement ceremony, we are blessed to have a community that cares. It has enabled us to achieve more than we could have dreamed and become a better and stronger leader across our community.
Without a doubt, the greatest act of generosity and support came as we embarked on our building campaign to raise the funds needed to build our new post. It was my goal as commander to see that we got that across the finish line and with your help, we did it.
To the City of Ruston, we will be forever grateful. With the city now beginning construction on the facility, we find ourselves one step closer to once again having a permanent home. There is no way that would have happened without every business, organization, and individual in this community that partnered with us, hosted us, made a donation or bought a ticket during our fundraiser. To say we are grateful seems inadequate but we certainly are. And we are excited about the future.
As Jordan Holmes now takes the lead as commander, it is my hope that you will rally around him and his vision for our post, just as you did for me. As brothers and sisters in arms, it means more than we can express to have a community that believes in us, will stand with us and be willing to go the extra mile with us. You have made a difference and we appreciate you, salute you and value the partnership we continue to share with you.
May God Bless America!
