Police catch burglar with citizen’s help

Ruston Police have arrested a local man for burglary after asking the community for help in identifying him.

Leroy Wimberly, 57, of Chesboro Street, Ruston, was arrested on warrants charging him with simple burglary and simple criminal damage to property last Tuesday.

Police had provided a video capture of the suspect inside In-and-Out Donuts about 11:50 p.m. July 12 and asked for help in identifying him.


RPD Deputy Chief Chad Hamlin said Monday that a citizen tip was instrumental in Wimberly’s arrest.

Wimberly is being held at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center with bail set at $25,000. He is also being help for Louisiana Probation & Parole.
