Ruston man charged with domestic abuse

A Ruston man was arrested last Saturday morning after he allegedly beat and strangled his girlfriend.

Ruston Police officers responded to a Center Street apartment where a woman told them her boyfriend, Brandon Stripling, 30, had demanded access to her cell phone. She would not give it to Stripling, who took it from her hands.

The woman said Stripling then put her in a chokehold from behind and she fell to the floor. The woman said Stripling got on top of her and strangled her with both of his hands around her throat, causing her to almost lose consciousness.

The woman’s right eye was swollen, and her bottom lip had incurred a small fresh bruise.

Stripling told officers that in the heat of the moment, he did not remember everything that happened, but recalled they had gotten into an argument.

Stripling was arrested for domestic abuse battery. While being transported to the Lincoln Parish Detention Center, Stripling removed the handcuffs from his wrists. He was restrained again and taken to the detention center and booked for simple escape and domestic abuse battery by strangulation.
