Sadie Huenefeld, KaraLin Hoover and Adam Campbell all earned all-state honors at the Louisiana Summer Open State Championship swim meet held in Baton Rouge July18-21.

The trio were competing as part of the Bulldog Aquatic Club against some of the best swimmers in the state of Louisiana.

“This last meet of the season is always bittersweet as we cheered on our two graduating Ruston seniors, both of whom will be moving on to swim at the college level,” said head coach Paulette Butterfield.  “Adam Campbell will be attending the University of Missouri St. Louis and Cade Campbell will be attending Centenary College.”

The 17-year-old Huenefeld earned her all-state award by finishing third in the 50m freestyle while the 18-year-old Campbell earned his by finishing third in the 200m butterfly. Sixteen-year-old Hoover placed third in the 400m individual medley.

“I thought the athletes really competed well,” said Butterfield.  “They swam a lot of events and relays over the weekend.  They showed mental toughness and grit during their races. I am so proud of our athletes.”

The athletes competing are as follows (events are in performing order):

Females

KaraLin Hoover (16) was 14^th in the 50 Breaststroke, 3^rd in the 400 Individual Medley, 17^th in the 200 Breaststroke, 8^th in the 400 Freestyle, 13^th in the 200 Individual Medley, and 16^th in the 100 Breaststroke. 

Sadie Huenefeld (17) was 7^th in the 200 Freestyle, 6^th in the 50 Breaststroke, 4^th in the 100 Freestyle, 7^th in the 400 Freestyle, 6^th in the 200 Individual Medley, and 3^rd in the 50 Freestyle. 

McKenzie Jones (17) was 16^th in the 200 Freestyle, 22^nd in the 100 Butterfly, 22^nd in the 50 Backstroke, 16^th in the 400 Freestyle, 24^th in the 200 Backstroke, and 6^th in the 800 Freestyle.

Bre Senn (15) was 38^th in the 100 Backstroke, 45^th in the 100 Butterfly, 42^nd in the 100 Freestyle, 34^th in the 50 Backstroke, 31^st in the 200 Backstroke, and 40^th in the 50 Freestyle. 

Allie Taylor (17) was 34^th in the 100 Backstroke, 40^th in the 100 Butterfly, 33^rd in the 100 Freestyle, 29^th in the 400 Freestyle, 34^th in the 200 Individual Medley, 35^th in the 50 Freestyle. 

The relay team of Hoover, Huenefeld, Jones, and Taylor were 7^th in the 800 Free Relay, 9^th in the 400 Freestyle Relay, and 9^th in the 400 Medley Relay.

The relay team of Hoover, Huenefeld, Taylor, Senn were 8^th in the 200 Freestyle Relay, and 11^th in the 200 Medley Relay. 

Males

Cade Campbell (18) was 60^th in the 200 Freestyle, 49^th in the 100 Butterfly, 27^th in the 200 Butterfly, 53^rd in the 200 Individual Medley, 32^nd in the 50 Butterfly, and 67^th in the 50 Freestyle. 

Adam Campbell (18) was 8^th in the 100 Backstroke, 7^th in the 100 Butterfly, 6^th in the 400 Individual Medley, 3^rd in the 200 Butterfly, 5^th in the 200 Individual Medley, and 8^th in the 200 Backstroke. 

Christopher “Owen” Frick (16) was 9^th in the 200 Freestyle, 13^th in the 100 Butterfly, 14^th in the 100 Freestyle, 8^th in the 400 Freestyle, 13^th in the 50 Butterfly, and 14^th in the 50 Freestyle. 

Jack Groce (17) was 7^th in the 1650 Freestyle, 8^th in the 400 Individual Medley, 13^th in the 200 Breaststroke, 22^nd in the 400 Freestyle, 11^th in the 200 Individual Medley, and 22^nd in the 200 Backstroke. 

Hunter Hayden (16) was 61^st in the 100 Butterfly.

Samuel Jackson (16) was 53^rd in the 100 Backstroke, 52^nd in the 100 Butterfly, 29^th in the 100 Freestyle, 47^th in the 50 Backstroke, 15^th in the 50 Butterfly, and 21^st in the 50 Freestyle. 

Camdyn Napper (15) was 14^th in the 50 Breaststroke, 9^th in the 400 Individual Medley, 14^th in the 200 Butterfly, 8^th in the 200 Breaststroke, 12^th in the 200 Individual Medley, and 12^th in the 100 Breaststroke. 

Relays for the Boys

800 Freestyle Relays were 4^th with the team of Adam Campbell, Napper, Jackson, Frick.

400 Freestyle Relays were 13^th with the team of Jackson, Napper, Robert Campbell, and Frick. 

200 Freestyle Relays were 13^th with the team of Jackson, Napper, Groce, and Frick. 

400 Medley Relay was 13^th with the team of Adam Campbell, Groce, Frick, and Jackson.

200 Medley Relays were 17^th with the team of Frick, Napper, Cade Campbell, and Jackson. 

There was a Mixed 200 Medley Relay which consisted of two boys and two girls, it was 7^th with a team of Adam Campbell, Hoover, Frick, and Huenefeld.
