
Funeral service for Robert Charles “Buddy” Stevenson, age 74, of Ruston, LA will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, October 1st, 2024, at the Forest Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Taylor, AR. Interment will follow in Forest Grove Cemetery in Taylor, AR, under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel, Ruston, LA. Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00AM, Tuesday, October 1st at Forest Grove Missionary Baptist Church, Taylor, AR.
Buddy was the born on May 20th, 1950, in Springhill, LA to Charles Ray Stevenson and Doris Christine Stevenson. He was united in matrimony to his beloved wife, Dorothy Annette Driskill Stevenson on May 14th, 1983, in Ruston, Louisiana. He was a gifted athlete who excelled in all sports, particularly football. Upon graduating high school, he became a successful salesman at Branch Bros. Motor Co., in Springhill, LA. He then moved to Shreveport, LA, where he sold insurance services for Prudential. He was quite a salesman and was known for being able to “sell milk to a dairy farmer”. He later moved to Ruston, where he started his own business, Neighborhood Appliance Repair, helping the community through his service work for over 30 years. He was a man of God who loved the Word and his passion for sharing the gospel was evident throughout his life. He served in a prison ministry, led a nursing home bible study group and traveled to several churches where he evangelized, and sometimes sang. He was a generous man, always providing support to those in need and adopting numerous stray animals throughout his life. He also enjoyed collecting antiques and working on his land with his track hoe, bulldozer, and multiple tractors. He loved his family beyond anything else on earth and was a devoted husband and father, spending his retirement years surrounded by loved ones on their 40-acre property. Buddy passed away peacefully in his home on September 28th, 2024, in Ruston, Louisiana at the age of 74.
Buddy’s life will be forever cherished by his wife Dorothy, and his three children: Jeremy Stevenson and wife Sheila, Jesse Stevenson and fiancé Wendell, and Mica Stevenson Tibbs and husband Tyler; grandson, Isaac and step-granddaughter, Luka; numerous nieces and nephews, four dogs, and five cats.
He was preceded in death by his son Jody Robert Stevenson; sisters Yvonne Barnes, Linda Sue Robison, Betty Jo Boyett; father, Charles Ray Stevenson, and mother, Doris Christine Stevenson.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Stevenson, Tilman Beshea, Alan May, Freddie Edwards, Chris Butts, Tyler Tibbs, and Wendell Riley.
