
Sherryl Jones Tucker, aged 70, passed away on October 15, 2024, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Born on October 30, 1953, Sherryl dedicated her life to the service of others through her legal career and personal engagements. Sherryl excelled academically, beginning her education at Hillcrest Elementary School, progressing to Ruston High School, and furthering her studies at Louisiana Tech University before completing her legal education at LSU Law Center.
She channeled her expertise and passion for justice into a longstanding and impactful career as a Senior Attorney with the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (LADOTD), where she worked until her retirement.
Known for her kind, generous, and empathetic nature, Sherryl was the heart of her family, often organizing and decorating for family events with a touch of her dry humor. Her caring personality extended beyond her family; she was deeply involved in her community, volunteering her time and resources to various causes.
Sherryl was also an avid interior decorator and a masterful organizer of family holidays, creating memorable experiences for all who were lucky enough to be part of her celebrations. Sherryl is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Robert C. (Bob) Tucker; her sisters, Denise Jones Wiltcher (Tom) and Michelle Jones Barker (Mark); nieces and nephews, Megan Wiltcher Zanchettin (Franco), Ryan Barker Layman (Richard), and Lauren Barker; and great-nieces and nephew, Vinny and Maddie Zanchettin, and Avery Layman.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Judge Fred W. Jones, Jr. and Anelle S. Jones, and her mother-in-law, Lallage L. Tucker. Final arrangements for Sherryl are private, with a celebration of life to be planned at a later date.
