RUSTON, La. — Ruston High School announced Thursday that 18 student-athletes were named to the Louisiana High School Athletics Association All-Academic team for their performance in the classroom as well as their respective sports.
“That’s a really big accomplishment and a really good group of student athletes,” Ruston High School principal Dan Gressett said. “The time commitment to athletics is tremendous, so for these students to be able to do that and still stay on top of their school work says a lot. We are very proud of them and they represent RHS very well.”
Students must have maintained a 3.5 GPA or higher throughout high school.
The athletes include:
- Lydia Watts – Composite Team Swimming
- Harper Cauley – Division I Volleyball
- Josiah Finley – Division I Cross Country
- Owen Frick – Division II Swimming
- Parker Nations – Division I Cross Country
- Katelyn Rollins – Division I Volleyball
- Mariah White – Division I Volleyball
- Dylone Brooks – Division I Football
- Johnathan Conner – Division I Football
- Jack Elliott – Division I Football
- Zander Hayes – Division I Football
- Darius James – Division I Football
- Gavin Jolivette – Division I Football
- Sam Nations – Division I Football
- Kolby Sonnier – Division I Football
- Garrett Taylor – Division I Football
- Jake Tyler – Division I Football
- Johnny Winzer – Division I Football
