Charlize Williams had 10 blocks in each of the two matches against FIU over the weekend to earn Conference USA Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the league on Monday.

Williams’s 10 blocks in the opening match were a catalyst in LA Tech’s 17-block performance, tying the third most in rally scoring era in program history. She also tied for the seventh most blocks in a single match by a Bulldog.

She followed that up with 10 more blocks on Sunday to help Tech win a five-set thriller.

The senior anchored the Tech defense that held FIU to just a .062 hitting clip on Friday and a .081 mark on Sunday.

Williams has 122 blocks for the season, ranking No. 6 on the single-season list. Her 1.28 blocks per set would set the record for a single season.
