Suspect caught entering vehicles

An officer responding to a call of suspicious activity and Ruston arrested a local man after he was found hiding in a vehicle that did not belong to him.

Kenneth R. Walker, III, 29, of Ruston, was arrested for simple burglary of a vehicle and criminal mischief on Minden Street on Nov. 5.

A Ruston police officer responding to the call saw Walker enter a parked vehicle. When officers approached, the man was found slumped down in an apparent attempt to hide himself. The vehicle was found to belong to someone else who had not given permission for Walker to enter it.

Witnesses saw Walker pulling on the door handle of another vehicle and attempting to enter a U. S. Postal Service vehicle with the carrier inside. The carrier said she had to close the door to keep Walker from entering the vehicle with her.

Walker was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center. His bail was set at $5,000.
