Louisiana Tech Men’s Basketball head coach Talvin Hester announced Tuesday the signing of Kylan Howze out of Jones Community College.

Howze, a 6-foot-9, 210-pound forward, hails from Gulfport, Mississippi and is in his second season with the Bobcats.

“What an incredible day to be a Bulldog,” said Hester. “We are beyond thrilled to welcome Kylan to our family. With his impressive size and length, toughness, relentless rebounding, and elite rim protection, Kylan has the potential to be a game-changer for our program. He is exactly the kind of player who embodies what it means to be a Bulldog.”

Howze has helped Jones CC climb to No. 4 in the NJCAA national rankings, having started the season with five straight victories. He is currently averaging 9.2 points while shooting 53 percent from the field.

The forward also leads the team with 8.6 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game (ranks 15th in the country). He had a double-double with 18 points and 11 boards against Arkansas State Mid-South, followed by a season-high seven rejections against Bishop State.

Howze and the Bobcats went 27-7 his freshman year, capturing the MACCC championship which was the program’s first since 2017. Jones CC went on to claim the Region 23 title as well before falling in the national tournament to Panola College.

He started all 34 games, averaging 5.3 points and 5.9 rebounds while also racking up a team-high 86 blocks for an average of 2.5 rejections per contest. His 86 blocks ranked second in the MACCC and ninth in the nation.

Howze was named to the NJCAA Region 23 All-Tournament Team and was selected for the All-American JUCO Showcase Invitational in Atlanta.
