Feds, state police find drugs in Ruston

A Ruston man was arrested last week on drug and gun charges after DEA agents and state police executed a search warrant at a Fountain Drive apartment in Ruston.

Aujwuan M. Simmons, 23, of Alpine Drive, was arrested November 27 after Louisiana State Police and a Drug Enforcement Administration task force searched a southeast Ruston apartment and found synthetic marijuana, and other drugs.

Simmons identified a female as living at the residence but said he stayed with her at least four nights a week.


Recovered in the search was a loaded Glock 19 pistol, almost two pounds of synthetic marijuana, two bags of methamphetamine, a bag containing oxycodone, two bags of marijuana, and $1,995 in cash.

Simmons was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for possession of a firearm in the presence of controlled substances, transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses, possession of synthetic marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and possession of oxycodone.

Bail for Simmons was set at $125,000.
