Grambling State faced another tough challenge on Thursday night, falling 77-60 to Tulsa at the Reynolds Center. Despite a strong presence on the boards, the Tigers struggled to find offensive consistency, shooting just 26% from the field and 15% from beyond the arc.
Grambling (2-6) was led by Douthshine Prien, scored a team-high 12 points to go along two rebound and two assists. Alyssa Phillip recorded a dominant performance on the glass, grabbing 14 rebounds to go along with nine points. Kahia Warmsley added eight points and three assists as well as six rebounds
Tulsa (3-5) showcased a more efficient offense, shooting 44% from the field and 35% from three-point range. The Golden Hurricane were paced by Delanie Crawford and Elise Hill, who each tallied 18 points. Hill’s hot shooting from beyond the arc (4-of-8) and Crawford’s balanced performance with five rebounds and three steals helped maintain Tulsa’s lead throughout the contest.
Grambling kept the game competitive early, trailing by just six points at halftime 37-31. However, Tulsa took control in the second half, outscoring the Tigers 39-29 behind an 18-assist effort and strong free-throw shooting (71%).
The Tigers showed resilience on the boards, winning the offensive rebounding battle 16-7, but could not capitalize on second-chance opportunities.
