Family dispute escalates to battery

A Dubach woman was arrested for simple battery on Christmas Day after Lincoln Parish deputies responded to a disturbance call.

Cherry Elaine Wells, 53, was arrested after her sister alleged Wells had struck her numerous times, knocking her to the floor. Deputies reported the sister said she and Wells had been arguing over cleaning their mother‘s property and a physical altercation ensued.

Deputies observed the victim had a significant cut above her right eye. Ruston Ambulance Service responded, but the woman refused transport to a hospital.

Deputies located Wells, who said her sister began throwing things in the house and that she threw her sister to the floor. Wells said the sister became angry again and she told her she was going to beat her if she continued in that manner. Wells said she struck her sister until she finally left the residence.

Wells was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center with bail set at $5,000.
