Drugs found during Ruston traffic stop

A Ruston man stopped for traffic violations was arrested Wednesday when drugs were found in his vehicle.

William Daniel Womack, 42, was stopped on South Barnett Springs Street in Ruston on January 8 by a Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office deputy who saw Womack’s Jeep Wrangler make a turn without signaling and then cross the centerline into the opposing travel line twice.

When Womack was stopped by the deputy, he attempted to exit the vehicle, a tactic the deputy wrote in his report is used often to conceal contraband.

While speaking with Womack, the deputy saw a clear plastic bag containing suspected methamphetamine on the dash of the vehicle. According to the deputy, Womack identified it as methamphetamine.

When asked if there was any other contraband in the vehicle, Womack allegedly said a bubbler, a smoking device to consume narcotics. A plastic baggie containing suspected methamphetamine residue and Suboxone was found in Womack’s wallet.

Womack was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for possession of methamphetamine, possession of Suboxone, possession of drug paraphernalia, improper lane usage, and failure to signal a turn. Bail was set at $12,500.
