Driver with open container arrested on warrant

A 20-year-old man was arrested last week by the Lincoln Parish Sheriff’s Office after he was stopped for a traffic violation and was found not only in underage possession of alcohol, but wanted on a previous case of underage possession.

Jataria T. Braggs, of Monroe, was stopped on January 25 for making several turns but failing to use a turn signal. When the vehicle was stopped, a deputy detect a strong odor of alcoholic beverage inside. A records check showed Braggs was wanted for failing to appear in court for execution of sentence for underage possession of alcohol.

A cup containing tequila and cranberry juice was found inside the vehicle along with a partially consumed bottle of tequila.

Braggs was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center for no turn signals, open container, underage possession of alcohol, and the bench warrant for failure to appear in court.
