Three men were arrested by Ruston Police last Saturday after the investigation of an assault.

Jalen Kelly, 21, Marquis Melancon, 22, and Jcolby Roberson, 22, all of Ruston, were arrested February 8 after the investigation of an assault on a male victim in the 700 block of Martin Luther King Drive.

According to an officer’s report, the victim said he was beaten by a group, identifying several suspects by name. He provided a vehicle description of the suspects.

Officers located the vehicle at a South Vienna Street residence. A number of individuals fled the location on foot. Officers apprehended Kelly, Melancon, Roberson, and a juvenile female.

An officer checked the porch where Melancon and the other males fled from and found a Glock pistol, a AR 15 rifle, and a bag of suspected marijuana.

Melancon was found in possession of a small amount of marijuana. Both he and Roberson denied any wrongdoing.

Kelly claimed the victim started the altercation but admitted pushing him. It was also determined the juvenile was present at the altercation.

Roberson was booked for a simple battery, resisting officer, and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. His bail was set at $3,000.

Melancon was booked for a possession of marijuana, resisting an officer, and illegal carrying of a weapon. Bail was set at $1,000.

Kelly was booked for simple battery and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile.
