Domestic incident prompts man’s arrest

A Ruston man was arrested last week after he allegedly committed a battery on his girlfriend.

David L. Walker, 36, was arrested March 5 for domestic abuse battery by strangulation after a woman reported he had battered her.

Ruston Police responded to a Louanne Avenue residence where the reported victim said Walker asked to see her phone and then accused her of cheating on him. She said Walker approached her in an aggressive manner, causing her to retreat for fear of being attacked.

The woman said as she was walking away from Walker, he grabbed her by the throat and pushed her into a wall. When she threatened to call the police, he fled the residence.

About one hour later, Walker returned to the residence and police responded again and interviewed him. Walker said he only put his hands on the woman in his own defense as she was the one charging at him.

Police found bruising and a small laceration on the woman’s neck and saw no physical injuries on Walker. He was arrested and booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center.
