RUSTON, La. — Both Ruston High track teams took overall first place finishes last week at the 32nd Hoss Garrett Relays held at Dave Anderson Track at Hoss Garrett Stadium.
Over 21 schools participated with the boys winning first overall with 180 points and the girls winning with the girls getting 145 points overall.
“I was incredibly pleased with our team’s performance at the Hoss Garrett Relays,” Ruston High head coach Trey Smith said. “Our team is really starting to become well balanced over all 19 events. We strive daily at practice to find the best fit for many of our athletes and a lot of the hard work and encouragement is starting to pay off for many of our bearcats. The kids really brought the excitement to the relay events setting three state leading times (Boys 4×2, Boys 4×1, and Girls 4×8), and I was even more happy with our second lineups placing 3rd in many of the events. Our depth this year is definitely one of our strong points, and this year and the following years are very promising from these performances across the board.
“Overall the hard work of our kids and the wonderful support from our parents really makes Hoss Garrett a great show for the community every March. We are looking forward to championship racing this upcoming April and May.”
