Three people, including a 16-year-old female, face charges after a shooting in a Gus Lane parking lot off the I-20 South Service Road on March 22.
Grambling Police arrested the juvenile late Sunday night, charging her with two counts of attempted first degree murder. Jachua Amon Knighton, 20, and his brother, Jeremiah A. Knighton, 21, were arrested the next day with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, among other charges.
According to officials, the female juvenile attempted to sell a firearm through social media and had arranged for the Knightons to meet her. A confrontation occurred during the meeting.
Jeremiah Knighton was wounded and treated and later released from Northern Louisiana Medical Center.
While Lincoln Parish deputies were attempting to recover the firearm used in the incident, Jachua Knighton was encountered on Apple Drive in Ruston Monday afternoon. He fled deputies but was apprehended after a short foot chase. The firearm suspected in the shooting was recovered nearby with unspent rounds scattered on the ground.
Jachua Knighton was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, obstruction of justice, resisting an officer, and probation violation. He was convicted of simple robbery in 2024 and is not permitted to possess a firearm. His bail was set at $50,000.
Charges against Jeremiah Knighton include possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and probation violation.
