Grambling State lost 7–1 to Texas Southern on Sunday afternoon at the Ruston Sports Complex, despite a solid start from pitcher Erin Gibbs and a spirited effort from the Tigers lineup.

The Lady Tigers (11–17) kept things close early, but Texas Southern (10–16) broke the game open with a four-run third inning.

Grambling’s only run came in the fourth when Ahsunte’ Specks singled and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Cadashia Collins.

Texas Southern’s offense was paced by Destiny Menchaca, who went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, and Kylie Wilson, who finished with three hits and an RBI.

The Tigers struggled to find momentum against Texas Southern pitcher Kaelani Randle, who went the distance and allowed just one run on four hits while striking out five.

Erin Gibbs went the full seven innings for Grambling State but surrendered 14 hits and seven earned runs.
