I-20 speeder charged in Ruston

A driver passing through Ruston on Interstate 20 allegedly reached speeds over 100 miles an hour when an officer attempted to stop him.

Bryce Rawls, 21, of Longview, Texas, was arrested on a number of traffic charges on April 2 after a Ruston officer clocked him at 94 mile per hour in a 70 mph zone.

The officer activated emergency lights well in advance of Rawls passing his patrol car. Rawls continued traveling westbound and appeared to accelerate. The officer reached a speed over 120 mph while attempting to catch up to Rawls.

Rawls eventually slowed down after traveling about two miles and stopped. He was arrested for speeding, failure to stop for an emergency vehicle, reckless operation of a vehicle, and no proof of liability insurance. He was booked at the Lincoln Parish Detention Center.
