
Funeral services for Sherrill Wayne Brazzel, age 66 of Dubach, LA was held at 2:00 PM, Monday, April 7, 2025 at Owens Memorial Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Dyes and Rev. Scott Jennings officiating. Burial will follow in Corinth Cemetery under direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home of Ruston, LA.
Sherrill was born to Donald Truett and Eva Duke Brazzel on April 20, 1958 in Homer, LA and passed away on Thursday, April 3, 2025 in Ruston, LA.
Sherrill Wayne, better known as “Red”, was well known for his skill as a mechanic, in which he was taught by his father from a young age. If it had a motor, he could fix it. He loved fast cars and enjoyed watching Nascar and drag racing. Red’s witty personality always left a lasting impression on anyone he met and he was a genuine friend to all that knew him.
Red is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Lurlene Brazzel. Left to cherish his memories are daughter, Kimberly Brazzel; son, Dustin Brazzel, and wife Hannah; grandchildren, Avalyn Page Brazzel, McKenna Reign Brazzel, and Jameison Thomas Brazzel; brothers, Gary Lane Brazzel, and James Truett Brazzel and wife Lindsey; several nieces and nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
Serving as pallbearers were Gary Brazzel, James Brazzel, Perry Mathis, Jim O’Neal, Jerry Eley, and Chaz Ovitt. Honorary pallbearers will be Lane Brazzel, Larry Brazzel, Keith “Boone” Brazzel, and Mike Stephenson.
The family would like to express a special thanks to Dr. Mark Haynes from Claiborne Family Center and Dr. David Osafo, and his oncology staff from Green Clinic for all the help and care given to Sherrill.
Visitation was from 12:00 PM until service time Monday, at Owens Memorial Chapel.
