Doggie Easter Egg Hunt set for 4 Paws Dog Park Saturday

by Hanna Singh

Bring your Easter baskets and your doggie bags for the Doggie Easter Egg Hunt at 4 Paws Dog Park this Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Hosted by 4 Paws Rescue, this free, family-friendly event is open to the public for all families and dogs to enjoy.

The event will include an egg hunt for both kids and pups, photos with the Easter Bunny, arts and crafts activities, and a dog costume contest, with a prize awarded to the “best dressed” dog.

Outside of just Easter fun, the event will be a chance for the community to gather and learn more about the work 4 Paws is doing in Lincoln Parish. Shelter board of Directors, Lauren Defreese shared why the rescue enjoys hosting events such as this one.

“We are so excited for the Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday,” Defreese said. “We love having events at the dog park since there are not many dog friendly places or events in Ruston yet.”

During the event, children will hunt for Easter eggs filled with fun surprises, including coupons for free kids’ meals from Raising Cane’s. Meanwhile pups can sniff out eggs stuffed with doggie treats. Dogs will also receive a goodie bag to take home.

In addition to the festivities, 4 Paws will have several dogs available for adoption. Foster dogs will also be in attendance, getting some fresh air and attention while potential adopters have the opportunity to meet them in person. Events like these allow the rescue to share its mission, promote the dog park and introduce people to its adoptable animals. The rescue hopes that events like these encourage more people to consider pet adoption and get involved with supporting the shelter.

Attendees will also get a glimpse of recent and ongoing renovations to the dog park, including the addition of a new Memorial Garden. Defreese also highlighted some of the exciting new additions to the dog park that attendees can see.

“We are so excited for the Easter egg hunt this Saturday,” Defreese said. “We are also excited for people to see our Memorial Garden with a rainbow bridge right outside the dog park. We are selling pavers for the garden to help fund our new building. Of course, we will also have many dogs up for adoption that will take turns coming to the event.”

4 Paws is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the well-being of stray, abandoned, and neglected animals in Lincoln parish.
