The community is invited to experience an artistic and spiritual journey through the Stations of the Cross Art Exhibit on Good Friday, April 18, at Trinity Methodist Church. The exhibit will open from 5-9 p.m. in the church’s Fellowship Hall, with a Tenebrae Service of darkness at 7 p.m. in the Sanctuary.

The Stations of the Cross is a Christian tradition that walks participants through 14 pivotal moments of Christ’s Passion, from His condemnation to His burial. This year, Trinity is presenting these stations through the eyes of local artists, each offering a unique and moving interpretation of Christ’s journey to the cross.

Fourteen artists from the congregation and community have contributed original works, using various artistic mediums to depict each station. Their creative expressions provide fresh perspectives, inviting viewers to engage in deep contemplation and prayer. Participating artists include Amelia Costanza, Christy Bishop, Emily Pullen, Heather Boone, Jean Moore, Laura Miller, Lauren Dixon, Loretta Owens, Lyla Turner, Maggie Boudreaux, Marlen Waters, Norma Killgore, Shelly Nealy and Stowie Richmond.

Through their artwork, attendees will be encouraged to reflect on the depth of Christ’s sacrifice and the love He demonstrated on His path to Calvary. Each station will offer a visual meditation on the Passion narrative, drawing hearts closer to the meaning of Easter.

“We are so grateful for the talented artists who have poured their gifts into this project,” said Katie Clark, one of the event organizers. “Our hope is that this exhibit will provide a powerful and moving experience for all who come.”

The 14 stations include (1) Jesus Prays Alone; (2) Jesus is Arrested; (3) Sanhedrin Tries Jesus; (4) Pilate Tries Jesus; (5) Pilate Sentences Jesus; (6) Jesus Wears the Crown; (7) Jesus Carries His Cross; (8) Simon Carries the Cross; (9) Jesus Speaks to the Women; (10) Jesus is Crucified; (11) Criminals Speak to Jesus; (12) Jesus Speaks to Mary and John; (13) Jesus Dies on the Cross; and (14) Jesus is Laid in the Tomb.

The Stations of the Cross art exhibit is free and open to the public. All are welcome to join this time of reflection and worship on Good Friday at Trinity Methodist Church’s Fellowship Hall located at 1000 Woodward Avenue in Ruston.
