MONROE, La. — Ruston High’s tennis squad put together a tremendous showing at the 2025 Division II Regional at Forsythe Tennis Park in Monroe, which included a first-time regional girls’ championship team in school history.
The dynamic duo of senior GiGi Daughtry and sophomore Lillian Fendley captured the girls double title in three sets, which helped lead the school to girls championship, while also setting a school record of qualifying 14 of 16 players for the state tournament.
“I couldn’t be more proud of my team,” Ruston High tennis coach David Poe said. “They all put in great effort. The girls were able to win the girl’s side of regionals, and that is a first for us. And I’m amazed how well GiGi and Lillian were able to make a comeback after winning the first set and losing the second. They were able to regain composure to mentally and physically fight back to win the third set making them champions and undefeated in the Region.”
