Kendall Ramsey tossed 4.1 scoreless innings in relief and Sadee Williams and Mallory Smith combined for five RBI to lead No. 11 seed Cedar Creek to a 9-2 win over No. 22 seed Delhi Charter in the first round of the Select School Division IV playoffs.
The Lady Cougars (22-9) advance to face No. 6 seed St. John (21-8) Tuesday at 5 p.m. on the road.
Cedar Creek plated runs in four of their six innings, including a four-spot in the bottom of the fourth inning that blew open a tight game.
Ava Lantrip got the start in the circle, tossing 2.1 innings while allowing two runs on four hits while striking out three. Ramsey came on in relief in the top of third, tossing the final 4.2 innings while allowing just one hit and striking out four.
Offensively, the Lady Cougars outhit Delhi Charter 11-5 in the win.
Williams (2-4, 3 RBI) and Smith (2-3, 2 RBI) were the big run producers for the Lady Cougars while Presley Wall also recorded a 2-hit performance while stealing three bases, scoring four times and registering one RBI.
Lantrip (1-3, run), Hydi Boyd (1-4, run, RBI), Anna Claire Fitzgerald (3-1, RBI), Molly Boyd (1-2), Clara Yates (1 run) and Ramsey (1-3, 2 runs) also contributed at the plate.
