Local softball teams play in second round of playoffs; Creek baseball moved to Wednesday

All three local softball teams still alive in the Louisiana High School Athletic Association playoffs will be in action tonight, while Cedar Creek’s baseball teams road match-up at St. Edmunds has been pushed to Wednesday due to the forecast.

Choudrant, Simsboro and Cedar Creek softball will all be playing in the second round of the respective Divisions/Classifications with the Aggies and the Tigers hosting and the Lady Cougars going on the road.

The No. 7 seed Lady Tigers (20-10) will host No. 10 seed Family Community in the Class C playoff bracket tonight at 5:30 p.m. after finishing the regular season as the District 1B runner-up to Quitman. Simsboro had a first round bye.

The Lady Tigers have won four straight and seven of its last eight.

The No. 8 seed Aggies (15-13) fresh off a District 2B title will host No. 9 seed Holden at 5 p.m. Choudrant, which has won four of its last five contests entering the playoffs, had a first round bye.

No. 12 seed Cedar Creek (21-9) won its first round matchup over Delhi Charter last Thursday. The Lady Cougars travel today to face No. 6 seed St. John at 5 p.m. 

Cedar Creek baseball’s first round match-up against No. 15 seed St. Edmund, originally scheduled for today, will now be played Wednesday at 4:30 p.m.  

In other high school baseball action, Simsboro will travel to Zwolle Thursday (5:30 p.m.) while Choudrant will host Quitman next Tuesday (4/29) at 6 p.m. Ruston will begin its three-game series against Benton Friday.
