Area law officers and others participated in Special Olympics Louisiana Law Enforcement Torch Run on April 25. The Torch Run® is Special Olympics’ largest annual grass roots fund raising and public awareness campaign. This year was the run’s 41st year.

Kudos to the dispatchers of the Ruston Police Department for their efforts to assemble “Blessing Bags” of essential hygiene and comfort items for individuals facing difficult circumstances. The bags include socks, grooming items, protein bars, hand warmers, bottled water, etc. Donations can be dropped off at RPD.

The work on road improvements at the Tarbutton interchange for Buc-ee’s has not caused significant traffic issues but the repaving of Interstate 20 between Grambling and Arcadia sure has. Only one lane is open in each direction. The worst is eastbound toward Ruston in the early evening. “Stop and go” traffic is what they call it in the big cities.
