RPD dispatchers fill “Blessing Bags”

 

Dispatchers at public safety agencies are often the first to hear from concerned citizens about individuals experiencing homelessness or other crises. The dispatchers are the Ruston Police Department have stepped up in a heartfelt way to provide some help where they can.

The RPD dispatch team is assembling “Blessing Bags”—small care packages filled with essential hygiene and comfort items. These bags are meant to offer a bit of hope and support to those facing difficult circumstances.

Each Blessing Bag contains everyday necessities such as:

Hat and gloves

Socks

Multi-purpose wipes

Chapstick

Comb or brush

Toothbrush and toothpaste

Basic grooming items

Female sanitary products

Mini first aid kit

Hand warmers

Mints or chewing gum

Bottled water and protein packs

Granola bars, nuts, or beef jerky

Small notepad and pen

The dispatch team is asking for the public’s help. Mercy Dental has already provided oral care supplies. Donations of any of the above items is appreciated. Donations can be dropped off at the RPD station at 501 North Trenton during office hours.
